Default Canada question

Planning a trip to Canada this June, from what I understand now we will need a passport to get back in the US, has been many years since I have been there, we just showed a drivers license last time. Probably ten of us going on the trip, is getting passports a pain to go thru these days?

Doesn;t matter one way or both ways ,a passport is needed. 115.00 I think about a 6 week wait . Been there done that . You can expedite the service for more money . Check with the USPS.

Also make sure nobody in your party has a criminal record, especially any DUI's.

Enhanced drivers license? Can you get that in any state? If somone in the group has a DUI they can't get a passport?

DUI wont be allowed into Canada without applying for special request and paying something like $200

It isn't hard to get a passport. Takes about 6 weeks (maybe more, maybe less). If I remember correctly you can get a card that is cheaper than a passport but it limits where you can go or what mode of travel. (Canada & Mexico by road I believe).

Enhanced Drivers License. The states of Michigan, New York, Vermont and Washington are issuing these enhanced drivers licenses.

Having a DUI shouldn't be cause for not issuing a passport. Canada just doesn't want DUI offenders in their country.

http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/get_4855.html
From there you can find the nearest place to apply some post offices can even take the passport photo. For the OP that appears to be Culpeper VA
