Default BRP and New River Gorge

I 'm coming down to NC from DC on Skyline and BRP and wanted to take a side trip over the New River Bridge in WVA. Can someone tell me the best way to go off the BRP and back? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Rt 39 from Buena Vista through Goshen Pass, VA and Marlington WV, all the way over to Summersville on Rt 19.

As far as a different way back I would head 13 miles back on 39/55 then take 20 south to 60 east, to 64 east. From 64 take 311 south (the exit it right on the WV-VA line). Watch the signs and stay on 311 south. (There is a nice little general store-restaurant in Paint Bank.) Continue on 311 to New Castle where you'll turn Rt on 42 which is a nice road (you almost don't see 42 until you ride past it). Follow 42 to Newport and take 460 to I-81 south. Go I think one exit and exit on 8 south, follow 8 through Floyd to the BRP.

Your welcome, I'll be surprised if you don't enjoy this route. Have fun!

Again watch out on 19 (Summersville and Fayettville area), basically all of Nicholas County WV can be a speed trap.

One day I would like to go to "Bridge Day" which is the say that you can jump (bungee or parachute, or whatever devices you have) off of the New River Gorge Bridge.
I think it's in October but seems like I always have something else to do that weekend.

Consider riding down to the bottom of the gorge and getting the view of the bridge, pretty cool. If you go to the visters center on the north side on rt 19, go past the center and the road turns into one way and zig zags to the bottom. Outstanding views. I have a slideshow video on YouTube of it, search for user "madmotorcycle". Also +1 on pies and pints in Fayetteville and ridewva has given you an perfect route !
