Default Rides in OK?

Any good rides in OK? New to riding and would like something other than the arrow straight pavement we have around here.

Well, take a look at this OKC area map from Google and note the roads with some twists and bends to them... https://maps.google.com/maps?q=oklah...&gl=us&t=m&z=9 There appear to be some W and SE of OKC.

Also, draw a line north - south through Tulsa, all the way through OK, and find sweet riding most places east of that line. It's gonna mean getting up early or getting back late.

You need to take a three day trip to NW Arkansas. Many nice rides in this area.

The extreme eastern edge of Oklahoma is nothing like the other 80%. The Ouachita Mountains are much more impressive and expansive than one would think. Understand that some of the mountains are near 3000' feet. Given the valley's are at about 500', that's quite an elevation difference to see and ride. South of Heavener, OK, those mountains are covered in pine trees, which makes them even more pleasing visually.

There are all sorts of good roads over in eastern OK to ride. The most popular is the Talimena Skyline that begins just north of Talihina, OK and runs east all the way to Mena, AR. Twisties and elevation both, as the line runs the ridge all the way.

A weekend trip over this way will NOT disappoint.

Good luck!

travelok.com has a tab with nothing but motorcycle touring in OK. Trip to Meers for a Meersburger and sightseeing in the game preserve are great, another poster mentioned the Talimena Scenic Tour...don't miss it. As another mentioned, the eastern part of the state is totally different.

You might also check out motorcycleroads.com for OK trips.

Ride safe.

Tough call down where you are. In the SE, Talimena Dr. In NE there are several nice rides. You've got Hwy 80 between Warner and Ft. Gibson. There are supposed to be a bunch of different routes around the Muskogee area. Hwy 10/10a, and Indian Road near Tenkiller are nice, as are the Eastern side of Tenkiller. The ride from Eufaula to Robbers Cave State Park is pretty nice also.

You can pretty much figure that anything East of Hwy 169 will be fairly scenic in any of three directions, if not just plum purdy. Other than that, you can count on a lot of straight miles to get anywhere.
Here is a link that may be helpful:http://www.motorcycleroads.us/states/ok.html

You can see the sites on Old 66 tween OKC and Tulsa. I live at Locust Grove, east of Tulsa. There's plenty of good roads here. And I'm only 35 miles from Arkansas. We did a 5 bike 180 mile ride Saturday that was prob 50% county roads.
