Default Help me plan a road trip: 4 days from CNY and back

Hi all,

A buddy and I are hoping to do a road trip on our bikes over labor day weekend, and we need help planning. The constraints:

- 4 days
- ~300 miles/day
- Hit as many states as possible, avoiding major highways as best we can
- Start/return to Utica, NY
- Worthwhile site seeing/tourist traps/breaks along the way

Any ideas for a good route? If anything, I can ditch the "as many states" idea if it detracts from the general trip.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Jared

Check these things out on Google, or maybe their own websites:
--- Letchworth State Park, over near Rochester.
--- PA Grand Canyon, near me, in Wellsboro PA
--- Kinzua Bridge State Park, Mt Jewett PA
--- Benezette PA (largest population of free-roaming elk, east of CO.
--- New River Gorge in WV

Go down 99 from State College PA. (Not much traffic at all for an interstate.)
It turns into 220 & continues down to Cumberland MD
Then, 68 west from Cumberland. GREAT country & scenery, not much traffic. From here, to New River Gorge. Then back toward NY. Get up to route 6 near Meadville PA, and take 6 back east. You'll pass Kinzua Bridge on the way back. Just a thought. I've been on 68 in the car, in MD, and always thought it would be a great ride on my bike.

What is CNY anyway?

Never mind. Just saw you location as Central New York.

Try north to Montreal, west to Ottawa, Toronto and back via Buffalo.

Also use AAA TripTiks to map it out. Good free tool. Also download the apps Waze and MapMyTracks. The latter's a cool one to keep track of your entire trip, speeds, locations, etc. I think it's $0.99.
