Looks like I'm headed to Sturgis for my second time there, First was in 2010. I have some friends that started planning a trip back in Jan 2012 for this year and I told them I wasn't going as my Dads health was bad and I didn't know how much longer I would have with him. Well he passed away on July 2nd and was laid to rest on July 6th. He lived a great life of 80 years and I will miss him as he was the man I always wanted to be! I went to Sturgis in 2010 and when I got back he wanted to hear all about it and I told him every time he asked. Well today I get a call from a good friend that is heading up this years trip and he asked if he could come over and talk so I said sure and little did I know what he was up to! It looks like this is going to be a trip in memory of my dad!! They all know how much I love my dad and they want to make this trip for him. I was in tears, He loved motorcycles and he is the reason I ride! He started me at a young age 6 when we lived in England ( He was a Navy Pilot) He had a Norton and would put me on the gas tank and take me for a ride all the time and when I was old enough to ride my own he got me a Honda XR75. He was a great man and this years trip will be for him! Sorry for the long post. Sturgis 2012 ride for William Wesley Works!!

 

Good for you - I know your Dad would be pleased - I have a similar story for 2011. My Mom passed away July 7,2011 - she was 98 1/2 years old and not having any fun for the last couple of years. I went to Sturgis with 3 good friends and then on Jan 2 of 2012 one of the guys dropped over dead of a massive heart attack. I was so glad he got to go to Sturgis - it was a really good ride for all of us. We miss Randy a lot. In the words of Janis Joplin "get it while you can"
