Default Detroit to Ashville

Heading down to ride the B.R.pkwy from southeast Mi. First thoughts were to ride hard to Knoxville but rethinking it. May as well make the trip down as nice as possible. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

If you're riding the BRP from south to north and are traveling south on US 23 to get there, stop in Portsmouth, OH and walk along the flood wall on Front St and take in the murals. It's worth it IMHO. Travel further south to Tellico Plains, TN and take in the Cherahola Skyway, The Tail of the Dragon and the Hellbender 28 along Fontana Lake in NC. All great roads for sure. Have a safe journey.

Just a thought here, but since you're not in a hurry, you may want to consider taking the Skyline Drive from Front Royal, VA down to Waynesboro, VA and pickup the BRP from there.

When we go, we usually take the OHIO TP towards PA and spend the first night in Somerset, PA.
THis is very close to the Flight 93 Memorial and there's a H-D dealership in Somerset if you should need anything.
An early start from Somerset will put you in Front Royal, VA in 125 miles and a little over 2.5 hours.
THe SKyline Drive is a toll road ($10 I think) and it's 105 miles long and the posted speed limit is 35 MPH.

Caution: If you "carry" the direct route from Somerset, PA to Front Royal, VA cut a corner into Maryland and they DO NOT recognize our concealed carry licenses.

When I take Rt 23 south, I take it to I-270 West (for a very short distance) then onto 315 South right through downtown Columbus.
Don't do this during rush hour(s).
From 315 South follow the I-71 South signs and it will take you to the I-270 split and you want to go east towards Wheeling.
Once you take I-270 East it will just be a short distance and you will see Rt 23 south.

FYI--
There's a neat little bar in Waldo, OH just off of Rt 23 which is north of Columbus.
They've received national attention for their Bologna sandwich, but they have burgers, etc. too.
Right at the Waldo exit and then a left at the first service station and it's down maybe one block on the RH side.
