Observations: Today's Road Trip: Va. Beach to Windsor, CT
500 mile ride, left the beach at 7am, was at Price Shopper at Windsor, CT by 4:45pm, 2 gas stops, one in Delaware and the other at the last service area at the NJTP, took the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, US 13, through Delaware, NJ, NY and CT, I-95 & I-91.
1st gas stop - averaged about 42 mpg (speed limit 55, cruise at 65mph)
2nd gas stop - averaged about 39 mpg (speed limit 65, cruise at 75 mph)
beautiful day to ride up until towards the end of the NJTP going into NY, GW Parkway, what a mess...I paid $13.65 at the NJTP and $12 for the GW Toll...traffic was just terrible...rubberneckers, etc.
after NY, it was a rat race from there on, if i wasn't doing 80mph...I'd get ran over! from NY to CT is another 120 miles...
i make the trip often, either in my bike, car or truck...every time i say, no more NJTP, no more GW Bridge...the longer route via I-87 is an additional 100 miles...at times, the detour is well worth it...
thought i'd share...at least got in safely...lost count on how many times cagers cut me off, etc.
