Planning a road trip from Raleigh, NC to Daytona, Fl and then going down to Key West, Fl a couple days during Biketoberfest in October.

I am heading out from the Raleigh area on Tuesday October 16th and stay over somewhere in Georgia that night and then on to Daytona on Wednesday 17th and staying until Sunday October 21st.

The next part of the trip will be heading out from Daytona Sunday 21st and heading toward Key West, Fl staying over somewhere between Daytona and Key West, Fl on that Sunday night.

Monday October 22nd continue on to Key West, Fl and staying over in Key West until Thursday morning October 25th.

The next leg is not really planned except leaving Key West, Fl that Thursday heading back up north toward Georgia, South Carolina..........eventually back to Raleigh, NC sometime in the next few days.

 

Sounds like a great trip, rode to Key West during Daytona Bike Week last week. Great area would like to go back and spend more time. One note last week our plan was to ride part way back to Daytona from Key West we had a very difficult time finding a room rode way farther than we wanted to intended to and paid 200 plus dollars for a simple room this was just North of Miami.

 

isn't that FantasyFest week in KW? If it is you need to book a room now and be prepared to pay. That said it's going to be a blast.

 

I went to Biketoberfest in 2010, but I have never been to Key West.
I booked rooms already in Palm Coast, Fl ($80 a night for 4 nights) and also in Key West (169 a night for 3 nights oceanfront).

I look forward to the trip and kind of not planning where to stay on the way back up toward NC, just kind of stop when tired of riding for the day.

 

You will have a great time, if you like seafood we ate at a place on the pier call Alfonzos, the Orleans Snapper was awesome, very good oysters on the half shell too. We normally don't make reservations but this time wish we would have, when we stopped we had ridden approx 650 miles for the day and it was getting close to 2 am. Traffic in Key West was heavy we did park the bikes and walk. Some of the best trips are the ones that are not planned they just happen.

 

The trip to Daytona in October 2010 was great. The weather was perfect at about 78 degrees and no rain. I hope the weather is just as nice this year!

 

Got back from Daytona and the Keys last week. Stayed up at Palm Coast 3 nights. Then headed south. We stayed at Key Largo and rode from there the round trip to Key West. Great ride and found Key West to be a place I'd go back too.

Raleigh to Daytona is less than 550 miles. Why not ride to Daytona the first day and give yourself more time in the fun places.

 

I did ride non-stop to Daytona in 2010, but I am leaving on a Tuesday that week in October and bike week does not officially begin until that Thursday.

This should give me time to just cruise and not worry about driving 8-10 hours (depending how long you stop etc...) at one shot.
