Is mid-March too late for a comfortable visit to the Everglades?

Default Is mid-March too late for a comfortable visit to the Everglades?

My five day tour of the Everglades and surrounding areas originally scheduled for February has been pushed back and the earliest I can go will be mid-March. I am planning to camp at Flamingo at the southern tip of the 'glades and perhaps the NPS campground at the northeast corner of the park.

But I'm wondering if by mid-March the mosquitoes will be out in sufficient numbers to make camping miserable.

Anybody have experience with that time of year?

There is a one-week window in January of most years where the mosquitos are bearable in the swamp. This year was so warm not sure if we even got the window. There will be plenty of bugs in March. Bring DEET and a head net.
