I'm planning our vacation this year, and we are looking toward Branson, then to Nashville, Memphis down thru Cajun country then home, with some stops along the way to see friends in the Ozarks, ancient family in western Kentucky, friends in cental Tennessee and enjoy old family in Louisiana. I haven't been to Missouri since I was a yungun. Has anyone heard of a town called Philipossa (spelling may be incorrect) in eastern Missouri? From what I'm told it was a depression era town and may not exist anymore. My mother was born there, and I would like to check it out.
All of the suggestions we got last year for our rocky mountain trip was great, and we appreciate it.

Good luck chasing down your mom's birthplace. I did not see the town you named on this ghost town site but thought you may want to look. Have a great Ride!

 

You might contact these folks and see what they can turn up on your mother's birth certificate.

There may be information on the certificate that will narrow down where to start looking. If you can determine the county then contact the county clerk for that area.
