so when you say you got a week, does that mean you need to be back in 7 days from the day you leave, or are you taking a week (5 days) off work?
That's what we're doing and it gives the weekend before and after. So 9 total days.

We're planning 3 days ride up (also from OC), 3 there, 3 back.

 

I have ridden from San Diego and Riverside and even Sacramento. I'm also an Iron Butt.
Try to find more time. Don't I've spoiled several trips by going to far to fast and not enjoying the trip. Arrive fresh and have fun. Think about flying to out and Renting a bike. Get more time.
