Default PCHwy1 road trip

Looking for advice from central cali members.
So a buddy of mine wants to do a 5-6 day roadie from San Fran area down to Hunnungton beach where his son lives. Its kind of a crazy spur of the moment idea. Shipping bikes and flying into san fran. Spend a day or two with a friend and then head down the coast via 1. I did a thread search and picked up a few tips but you know you cant be too pepared. I know it could be chilly until we get farther south.
Any biker friendly eaterys, lodging or detours along they way? Really want to ride the shovel, but common sense tells me i should take the steetglide :=0

No not chilly through SLO county. Going to be 76 on the beach tomorrow. As far as detours he would need a month to ride from SF to hunington beach. No major rains so no washouts around big sur.

If you never have been down Hwy. 1...It's a GREAT RIDE!...Just make sure you top off the gas at CARMEL or BIG SUR. Don't think about stopping at GORDA, that guy will rape you on gas and food..Then top off again at RAGGED POINT ( great place to eat and hang out.) That will get you into SAN LUIS OBISPO..Then it's all pretty much Freeway from there.. It's one of my favorite rides.......Take the SHOVEL............ Have a GREAT TRIP!.......

Watch out for the wind gusts. Side to side, you might be colder on the shovel but it might be less work... Gorgeous though! If you go far enough down cut over to paso Robles. Beautiful country and riding.
