Indiana best rides
southcentral to southeast part of the state is best (south of Bloomington). Here are a few routes to consider. Routes 45, 42, 450, 135, 58, 446, 56 and 156 east of Madison, 66 and 62 along the Ohio River. Locations or destinations in Indiana should include Nashville, French Lick, West Baden Spring Hotel, Madison and Ohio River area.

Kentucky best rides
I liked this ride from Paducah, Kentucky to Gamaliel, Ky. This is a ride worth more than 400 miles round trip. A good trip thats worth it for a good lunch! I take hwy 62 up to KY Dam up to Patties Restaurant in Grand Rivers, KY. A great place and a good little stop! Then continue on hwy 62 to Princeton, KY. Take hwy 91 south and east to Hopkinsville, KY. Take the Byp 68 and continue east on hwy 68/80 to Russellville, KY. This road is a good road to cruise. There are many Amish farms and they have their local stores to shop. I always like to stop at the Kentucky State park where there is the Jefferson Davis monument. Coming into Russellville, KY take the business 68 into town. The hwy 68 intersects just past the town with hwy 100. Take KY hwy 100 this is a very good and fast two lane road. I continue this road through Franklin, KY then again hwy 100 to Scottsville, KY. Beyond Scottsville I always say this area of the state starts to appear to be getting closer to the Appalachian Mountains. Just a hint, with hilly roads and switchbacks. I take hwy 100 all the way to the little town of Gamaliel, KY. There is a barbeque shack with a real good smokey flavor. This town borders Tennessee. I see several motorcyclist heading into Tennessee heading east, no doubt probably going to Deals Gap. Red Boiling Springs is a place on TN hwy 52 that seems to be popular or good for something. I usually head back west on TN hwy 52 to Springfield,TN. I like that area and this seems to be a well know fact that Tennessee roads are nicer and more comfortable to ride on. If you want a challenge though take Kentucky back roads.

Maine best rides
Not the single best ride in Maine, but real nice and somewhat unknown. East of Ellsworth on RT 1, is route 182. Follow 182 to the end at RT1. Rt 182 goes through the "Black Woods". Twisty road, low mountains, lots of lakes with many turn outs ( go swimming! ) and hardly any people or traffic. 182 ends in Cherryfield at Rt 1 again. Take Rt1 South/West to 186 and follow that to the turn off into Acadia National Park Winter Harbor section. Beautiful and no crowds compared Acadia NPS Bar Harbor. Back out to 186 and to RT1. WARNING local Winter Harbor PD will bust you for 5 miles over or follow you out of town. Back on Rt1 heading to Ellsworth, eat at ******'s ( 200 Downeast Hwy Ellsworth, ME 04605 ) there on the right. Then your back in Ellsworth. About 90 miles Ellsworth and back.
Another personal observation, RT1 East of Ellsworth is what people are looking for when they want to ride RT1 in Maine.
