Years ago we rode (yes my metric) down to see Muir (?) woods. Curvy road, nice scenery, dont even remember where it is now.....at may age, something new comes in my head, something old has to leave!

Anywhere along the coast above San Francisco is my favorite. Ride across the Golden Gate bridge (no toll South to North),great scenery. Can get foggy and cold around Eureka, but you can cut across hwy 299 and be warm again about 15 miles from the coast. Hwy 395 is a great ride ,gets you up to the Tahoe area.
The Mojave desert in Ca. across I40 is 100+ in the summer.I always try and cross just before daybreak, usally stay in Laughlin NV. the night before.Unless LA is a must see,I would avoid it first time on a M/C

Highwys 96 and 36 Northern California are a must ride. As are the roads around Idlywild and Julien in South California.
Sonora Pass (108) is awesome.

For riding....
Highway 1 (the coast) to travel the state...do not use 101 or 5.
Sonora, Copperopoilis, Yosemite (highway 4) and gold country.
OK on Lake Tahoe...lap the lake nice drive..plus close to Reno Nevada.

Skip Napa wine country not great.
San Francisco is great lots to do as a tourist.

Gonna have to ride that 108 road. That close to Yosemite the scenery has to be awesome. Maybe this year.

Default Here's the deal!!!

Southern Cali you can do almost year round. BUT remember winter time in California is the rainy season for most part. So plan accordingly. LA SD area good and deserts as well. Santa Barbara and Bakersfield will be rainy at times. Monterey/Carmel is worth a day or
two on its own. Santa Barbara area you can spend a day there as well or more. Heading inland from there are some nice areas. From Monterey ride up to SF and spend time around that area as well. Riding the Napa/Sonoma wine country is gorgeous in spring. Keep in mind if you go towards the mountains on eastern side of state you will be in snow country in the winter. When north of SF you will be in rain during the winter. The redwoods dont grow over 100 where its dry. The foggy morning rides are fun along the coast but chilly. Dont forget the Sacramento to Stockton River Delta. Highway 49 is the gold rush area of California from Yuba City/Marysville, Auburn, Placerville, and South. In the winter you can expect snow at times so this is best in Spring or early summer. Yosimite in the Spring is best. Ride up coast and come down I5 to Sacramento then head to the hills. Hwy 49. Then head south towards the Inyo/Mono Lake area. All along the way there will be side trips to keep you very busy. You wont be able to do this in two weeks unless you are just riding then easily in a week. I can think of plenty more to see on your ride but this is getting long enough. Hope this helps.
