Did you set the "rerouting" to "off"? If you don't then the GPS try to reroute to the main road, which is interstate highway.
The program work fine for me, except they put in there a lot of businesses that are not "historical business on Route 66". For instance, the Hickory restaurant is just in business for 10 years.
Other than that the GPS program is working fine to me.
I just got home from my Route 66-ish trip. We made it as far as Santa Rosa, NM and decided to head north to Colorado since there was nothing but rain between us and Arizona.
I do take credit for ending many of the regional droughts in the South and Mid west since we had rain gear on almost 50% of the time. Still wouldn't change it. had a great time!! 2,500 miles is 8 days!!
New to the forum and just read all the posts for Route 66 very interesting. I am doing this trip in mid May and do not know how to do a PM. Would like to get the itinerary from a couple of people who have done this ride. Thanks...

Done it last year, I started in Tampa, rode up to Chicago then followed Route 66 (with a few detours) across to Santa Monica pier. Left my RK with friends in the Mohave desert and going back out in 5 weeks time to ride back to Florida, the scenic route this time view Zion, Bryce and Million Dollar Hwy, can't wait
