I will be checking in to this site from the road and will pass along anything of interest that may assist you on your solo run.

You have a safe trip as well!
I have been using the free version of Weather Bugs in my phone, and it has saved me from running into heavy rain, and storm many times. The live action will show your location and the rain, if any, so you can wait until it passes by or put on the rain suit.
I hope you are using it!

111 degrees today in Needles, CA, with a high of 106 Wednesday and 102 Thursday.
Actually, I am looking forward to crossing the Mojave.

That reminds me the time I crossed the Mojave desert in August, few years ago. The temp was 120+, so I took a shelter in hotel; hopefully, it would be cooler at midnight. It was 105.
I'll do it again this time!

The waiting is just about over! I depart NJ tomorrow morning at 0630, link up with Dutch at Carlisle, PA, and then head for Chicago. Today will be a v-e-r-y long day.

Good luck Steve!
Try to sleep well tonight, as that's the only last thing that you need to do.
Have fun!

All the way to Santa Monica and Back! It was a great trip. Departed NJ on 25 MAY and returned on 12 June. Only Put the rain suit on once and that was the last day of the trip. If anyone follows this Route, and overnight stay in Williams, AZ is a good idea. Its a great little western town.

Cool! Sounds like a good trip. I'm leaving a week from tomorrow from St. Louis. Don't know how far I'll get since I am planning on stopping at as many of the classic road-side attractions I can. Hoping to get as far as Santa Fe on this trip.

All the way to Bakerfield, CA, but I had to skip Santa Monica as there was a family matter. Great trip, and the weather in June is perfect. I took too much pictures of the Route 66 and a few POI, such as Meteor Crater, so here is my route 66 album.

I was lucky that I didn't have to use my rainsuit at all. Actually, the temp was in the cool side in the morning in some places that I have to put on the Jacket.
The ready2go GPS file has done a great job to keep the trip more pleasant, as I didn't have to tumble with the map anymore.
I am stil on the road, but I have uploaded all the Route 66 pictures, so everyone can have the ideas about the route 66. I will have a report later, after I get home. Hopefully next week.
