I still remember the time I tried to cross the Mojave at night (departing at 12 am), and the temperature was over 100 degrees, but the it dropped down to low 60 on the other side.
Best time to do anything in the AZ desert is early morn. Late evening is still very hot.

Monsoons will hit around 3-4pm sometimes late June, but most often starting in July. Best of luck!

Haven't used GARMIN since I got me a dumbphone. Cheers.

Thanks much for the tips. I have learned a hard lesson before. I will try early morning this time.
I can't wait for the time.

Anyone has a similar plan, we can plan tag along, if you want to. Let me know
I hope that I can make it all the way.
Wish me luck!
If I'm around I'll catch up to you and ride for a day or two, sounds like a cool trip. Let me know and I'll see if any of my Pals want to take a ride too.

Three more months!
Damn, I feel like time is standing still, but I haven't finished all the maintenance and upgrades to the bike for this long, hot trip.

Get this book before your trip. This guy is one of the formost authorities on riding Rt. 66. He was hired by HD as a guide when we made this trip as a HD sponsored ride. If you really want to experience the trip, don't try for more than about 250 miles a day. There is a lot to see.

Route 66 is an "urban legend" in my opinion. I rode it three years ago. Boring ride for the most part. Just fly to Albuquerque and ride west from here and you will "see" most of whats hardly left. If I had the time and money you are going to spend I would plan another route and destination. You can spend a month touring Colorado and Utah and will not be disappointed. JMHO.

June can get really hot through the desert. April/ May is a much better time. There's a reason the Laughlin River Run is late April.
