Default Beatty Days, Beatty, NV

This past weekend a group of ten went to Beatty, NV for a overnight trip from Bakersfield. Great ride, beautiful scenery and perfect weather. We made a pit stop at Stovepipe. While there, here comes this guy running down the road pulling a car tire behind him. He stop to talk and explained this is how he trains for his long distance marathons. The locals said he runs in July and August when temps are above 120 degrees. There's more; he also goes into a freezer to get his body use to cold weather as he runs at temps below 20 degrees in some races. Amazing what the human body can do and withstand.

There are truly better men out there than myself! Are you kidding? I'd be the guy standing against the wall drinking the Bud Light! Seriously though love to see anyone with a passion going for it!

Wait..........that is a waste of a good tire, look at the tread on it. That probably doesn't 1000 miles on it!

I rode across the valley at noon on August 22, 2010. Air temp was 122 degrees.

There was a group of about 15 people running the other way at Badwater.

Much respect was earned that day.

No, it was one day riding to Beatty, stayed the night, left early the following morning. The ride home from Beatty was beautiful as the sun was at our backs and as we dropped down into Death Valley early that morning, the sun light up the entire valley. What a view coming down the hill. Great trip.
