Default Scenic Route From NY to Pocono Raceway PA?

Might be taking a trip to Pocono Raceway this weekend, wondering if anyone has any advice for a scenic route to get there. I know that RT 6 goes basically all the way from my area of NY to PA - over here Rt. 6 is a congested road, but I don't know if it becomes more scenic on the way out. It's not a big distance, so I can go out of the way a bit as long as it doesn't take more than a day to get there. The maps show tons of smaller roads that look promising, but without being there I can't tell how scenic, or not, they are. Any suggestions?

Route 6 isn't really scenic until you get further west. It's not that far ---- you might better just tough it out with the traffic if you really want to ride your bike over. Personally, I think the riding is so much better & more scenic, once you get 25 or 30 miles west of the toilet they call the Poconos!

HRK...I'm not being a smart a$$...but I kinda agree w/Geezr. I think you need to forget the secenic ride and just keep your eyes open. The traffic on race weekend is just freakin' nuts. I don't know if you've attended races there before...but let me tell you every road is packed either w/race fans or locals trying to get around all the traffic because of the race.

Thats what I was afraid of, thanks guys. It's only a couple of hours from me by highway but I figured I'd make a day trip of it - looks like it might not be far out enough to hit the nice areas of Rt. 6 though.

You could take NY 55 across the Hudson, west through the catskills till us 209 south to port jervis pick up us 6 there.

Or take I 84 till PA then 2 lane it the rest of the way.

I've traveled a lot of us 6 from NY/CT line to Towanda PA. I've found you make better time on NY 22, and 22 and US 7 are a lot more scenic. Though I would not hesitate to take 6 all the way from Putnam to PA if I was going to go.
