Default Seattle to Big Sur - suggestions? Stops along the way?

In a few weeks I'm going to head out with my wife and ride from Seattle to Big Sur - and back. Looking for any and all suggestions about routes and attractions. Places to stop, etc.

Thanks!

Motorcycles are not aloud on the 17 mile ride. I was there a few weeks ago. Make sure you go across the Golden Gate bridge in SF.

Looks like a great play on words if intentional.

Damn - hate it when motorcycles are not allowed on a specific road. Of course that makes me want to drive/ride it all the more!

Thanks for the suggestions so far - keep 'em coming.

Good idea, be a shame to miss Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, etc. if haven't been there.

Excellent - that's just the type of help I need. I've got a little less than 2 weeks. Figure south bound on 101 (right side of road will be coastal side), north bound - Sierras and Redwoods?
