Default Hotel help in North East NY

The wife and i are going to take a little trip up to Maine. I have most of the trip planned out but will need a bike friendly or at least not a dive hotel in NY. Looking somewhere about Glens Falls to Ticonderoga area. Or general area. Any one have any sugestions or places to check out? If that is getting into some kind of Adirondack resort area I am flexable to change.

At Americade in 2009 we stayed at Travelodge in Lake George. Of course every hotel there was bike friendly that week and all were full of bikers. Price was reasonable. They had a bike washing station and would supply old towels for cleaning. Rooms weren't 5 star but were clean and comfortable.

Flintshooter, you may want to avoid the Glens Falls/ Lk. George area unless you really want to see something specific in the area. It is a beautiful area and the dinner cruise or just guided tour on the lake is a wonderful experience, however the Lk. George area is truly expensive due to the resort classifcation of the area. I would continue another 80-100 miles north of there into Plattsburg if all you're looking for is a motel for the night. There are several there to choose from right from a Hilton to the hole in the wall dives. Several of the major chains have inns at the exit 37 interchange off of I87. Most have pools as well as dining areas in or within walking distance of your room. There is a HD dealer right off that exit as well, North End HD is right there and is the dealer I use for my HD. Holiday Inn-518-561-0646; Best Western 518-561-7750;Comfort Inn 515-562-2730; the list goes on and on. Good luck and enjoy your ride.

I've stayed at the Landmark Motor Inn in South Glens Falls. Its not a luxury hotel but its clean and comfortable, and its a single level where you can park your bike right outside your room. The rates go up significantly after July 22 so hopefully your stay is before then.

OK If I make Plattsburgh then it looks like a boat ride (toll) to get to VT and on over Rt 2 to ME. How much is the toll do you know? How often does it run?

Google is your friend my friend. Here is a ferry link. Last year we crossed at Ticonderoga. It was $5. for a 10 minute crossing.

When is your trip?

Heading out in two weeks. I am sooo ready to hit the road. Just got back a week ago from a trip down the Blue Ridge and that was a rundown ride to to fine tune some gear and riding position. Made a few adjustments and I am ready to go. Changing the fluids this weekend and the bike is ready. I have done so much internet time figuring routs and hotels and such I got myself burn out. Thanks for the real life info guys. I now have my last reservation in place. Nothing like that Alaska trip (Awesome) but it should be about 2500 miles with a four day sailboat trip on a 1860 Windjamer in the middle.

I have stayed at the Best Western in Plattsburg. Decent place and I am very picky about hotels

I'm an outside sales rep & used to travel up there. I remember hotel rates went through the roof once racing season started at Saratoga. I also remember some Super 8 motels that actually weren't bad at all, up there. The ones right on 87 at Glens Falls & Warrensburg weren't fleabags at all.

Try the Best Western in Plattsburg, NY. Clean, reasonable, bike friendly with a wash station, and you can walk to restaurants to avoid drinking and riding.
