Default Oregon, California Loop

My wife and I are taking a 9-day 2000 mile trip the last week in July. Along the way we have Crater Lake, the Treehouse Resort, the Redwoods, a nice trip down the coast, camping all the way.
Then we head across to the Sierra Nevada Mts, where I grew up. Around lake Tahoe, then North towards home...

Here's the route we have planned:

On your number two is Cave Junction, Oregon. Oregon caves. Nice stop. Sounds like a really cool ride.

The only way I could be more jealous is if you said your wife is ok with you being in **** and each stop is another shoot. Seriously though, please post pics, especially of Crater Lake, when you get back. Have fun and ride safe.

Cave Junction is where the Tree House Resort is. (treehouses.com) I didn't think about there being actual caves there....

Now I gotta go google it...

The caves are pretty cool to visit if you're not claustrophobic. They'll turn out the lights when you're inside and show you what dark really is.

Couldn't tell from your map, but if your going from Carson City to Reno or vise versa, jump off the slab & take a side trip to Virginia City. Well worth the little bit of extra time. great road, great scenery

Will be passing you goin the other way at some point of the trip. Heading out from Lincoln,NE on the 16th of july for 2 weeks, 4500 mile trip. Stops in San Francisco up Hwy 1 on the coast to Oregan and Crator Lake then east thourgh Idaho, Montana (Bear tooth pass) back home. Cant wait going with 4 other bikes. If you see a group of 4 bikes headed the other way have your wife raise both hands in the air and wave so I know it was you, if I see that I will have my wife do the same thing in return so you know it was me. Have a great trip and be safe.

Hey Cary,

May I suggest Hwy 26 from Vale/John Day/Mitchell/Prineville/Redmond/Bend....must more senic route than Hwy 20 from Boise to Bend. Did the Hwy 20 to Bend couple weeks ago...boring! Came home Hwy 26...except it being May and weather unpredictible, it was raining coming down off the mountain from Mitchell to home!

Have a wonderful and safe trip...pictures for sure!

Now that we've looked at the map and considered it, we are going to take your suggestion. It's only 20 miles longer, and we were dreading that stretch anyway...we're all about the scenic route
Thank you!
...and there will be plenty of pics...
