Default What is the best part of the highway 1 Coastal highway?

I have a free weekend comming up and I want to get out to the coast.

It will be a solo ride as my wife is still unwilling to leave our 6 month old daughter with grandma, therefore I will be looking for a portion that is good for windy roads scenic views and some off the beaten path pit stops.

I'm in reno Nevada so I can get to pretty much any part of the coast in a days time.

Any body got suggestions or at least a favorite part.

Do you have pics of your favorite places?

I also want to get some time in on the new stealth shield before I release it next monday, so I'm hoping to do around 600 miles for the weekend.

Carmel to San Simeon is the most scenic. Lots of traffic during the summer, but it should still be okay now.

From Reno...shoot over to Monterey and head south on PCH to Highway 46 (just south of Cambria). East on 46 to the 101. You get the coast and Paso Robles wine country...great ride and too long from Reno.

I have done parts of that in a cage.

It is a possibility and a good prospect at this point. I would go down and stay at the Asilomar and do the pebble beach ride and head back the way you said.

You are taking 80 out of Reno right? I would go straight into San Francisco and head South and finish up just South of Big Sur. High tail it home on I5. It's a fun ride you can easily do in a weekend and be back home Sunday night.
