2011 Run for the Wall
Run for the wall is coming through my town this Sunday. Should be quite an event. Several hundred bikes expected to come through and many more local bikers will be at the park waiting. I am planning to be at the park holding a flag and welcoming the bikers. We are right next to Fort Riley, so this is a very important event for us. And with my father being a veteran it is that much more important to me.
Just wondering if the ride has come through your town and what you thought about it.

I was at Bakersfield HD this afternoon and met Vet on his way to Rancho Cucamonga. His bike had broken down in Bishop, Ca and was towed into Bakersfield. His tranny was shot and couldn’t get the parts for a few days. So what did the All American Vet do? Buy a Road King to make it on time. He was just waiting for the bike to be serviced and he was ready to go. Bags stacked against the wall, a broke down bike, an all day stay at the dealership and the only thing he wanted to take about was the “Run to the Wall”. I was thrilled to met a great American!

They come to my little town every year for an overnight stop. Over the years its turned into a 4 day bike and veterans festival. Here is a link to the website http://www.lzrainelle.com/history.html

Me and 3 fellow vets/buddies did part of the ride in '09. We continued on to dc on our own and had a great time there for a few days. It's really awesome to be with so many bikers, majority of which are veterans too. Riding with the main pack was ok but not as enjoyable as we thought. Major props to the guys who do the whole thing year after year! It takes a lot of dedication and is all for a great cause.

Met three riders from Tennesse in Morrilton, AR last Saturday 14 May heading out to California to begin the Run For The Wall Ride. They had 5 days to make it to California. One of the riders left his oil cap at the motel where he had checked his oil. They made it probably 70 miles down the road before he missed it. They sent one of the riders back to pick it up. Lost a little time on that one. They were picking up 6 more riders in Las Cruces, NM before heading to California and then to DC. Now that is hard core riding!
