Denver to Myrtle Beach via Montgomery, AL
Our original plans had us going from Little Rock through Memphis and down to Montgomery (have to pick up a friend along the way), but with the recent weather/floods I was just wondering if the main thoroughfares in that area were still intact or if we need to think of another route. If another route is in order, does anyone have any recommendations?

If you're going to Myrtle Beach proper be prepared to be pulled over, maybe you won't get a ticket but will definitely be harassed....word is North Myrtle and Murells Inlet to the south isn't as bad but the last couple years Myrtle Beach definitely has a problem with bikers. I'm surprised you found a place to rent you a room or condo.
The last few Myrtle Beach Bike weeks have had no vendors or anything in the Myrtle Beach city limits, in fact the website had a map showing you how to STAY OUT of Myrtle Beach! IMHO I'd spend my money somewhere else

BTW coming through St. Louis to Louisville to Montgomery ain't a bad way to go....I-64 from St. Louis to I-65 in Louisville. Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee is some good riding, Illinois is kinda flat. When you get to the Alabama state line stop at the rest area and take a picture under the big rocket(theres a space center in Huntsville). Montgomery is probably about 700 miles from St. Louis going that way

From Montgomery to Myrtle Beach you will be going through Atlanta. Stay on the south portion of the city using Loop 285 to I20. Once you get to Augusta you may want to head toward Charleston. Before you get to Charleston you can then head North up to Myrtle Beach. Good ride that way.
Along the way is a few good stops to rest and still have some fun. Exit 114 on I 20E bound in Madison. Get off and turn right. A few miles on the left is a Double Bubble museum full of actual Micro Cars. Suppose to be the largest collection in the world. A great stop and want take a lot of time going through the museum.
