Default Looking for must-ride roads in N GA

Coming out of east TN on my way back to Orlando. Will see friends in Maryville, then ride The Dragon south and catch the Cherohala Skyway going east. Then headed south toward Dahlonega, then on to Marietta to see more friends. Need suggestions on roads I should ride in north Georgia. South Georgia, too, if anyone has suggestions.

GA180 through Vogel State Park is a great one! It is the GA Dragon!

Saw this one today while cruising the internet http://www.sixgap.com/

Looks like a nice ride And yes it is the same Hwy 129 that is the Tail of the Dragon. Just turn south on Hwy129-74-and 19 out of Robbinsville. Go through Murphy, NC into Georgia. Doesn't look too far from the Dragon.

The GA180 thru Vogel park is a great road. In fact that area is so full of nice twisties.

When you get off the Skyway take Hwy 68 to Copper Hill. Then take Hwy 60 down to Dahlonega. If you look this on a map you will find GA 180 North of Dahlonega. You can actuall leave Hwy 60, take GA 180 over to Hwy 129. Take Hwy 129 to Hwy 19 back into Dahlonega. Look it up on a map. Those roads are so much fun and the scenery is beautiful.

Thanks. These are the kind of suggestions I need. Thought I was gonna ride through Helen - but I'll take bamarider's suggestions. Any ideas for Dahlonega to Kennesaw / Marietta?

Helen is not far if you want to go but it is out of the way. Dahlonega has some great places to eat downtown. Just find the center square of town and park. You want be disappointed.

Leaving Dahlonega take Hwy 9 not Hwy 9E to Dawsonville. Verify this because I am going off my memory. In Dawsonville take Hwy 53west. I cannot remember the town but follow 53W until you come to a town I believe it starts with a T. Again look at a map. Take 108 all the way down to Hwy 20 and go west. This will put you on Interstate 75 and go south. Kennesay is not far south about 20 miles.

An easier way is just take 60east out of Dahlonega to GA 400/Hwy 19 and go south. Exit 14 is Cumming and take Hwy 20W to I 575 and go south to Kennesaw. This drive is not to scenic and more traffic. Be safe!

!
Good route suggested by bamarider. If you want to stay off the interstate go east on Hwy 20 for a couple of miles to Butterworth Road (there will be a light). Hang a right on Butterworth, go to the next intersection which will be Bells Ferry. Hang a right on Bells Ferry. If you stay on Bells Ferry you will eventually end up in the Marietta square.

Just before you cross Allatoona lake on Bells Ferry there is a little Bar/Resturant on the right called Little River Grill. It will sneak up on you but it's worth a stop.

And the town that starts with a T is Tate, "The Marble capital of Georgia"

Go south on Hwy 9 out of Dalonegha and go to Hwy 136 West, turn right and enjoy the ride. After you cross the mountain you come into Talking Rock, take a left on Hwy 5 south and take it into Canton. This will take you to Bells Ferry Rd , turn right and for sure stop at Little River for a beverage. Continue on to the Marietta Square as WildHair said.

North of Dahlonega, GA-60 runs to the northeast, through Suches and up to Blue Ridge. It's one of my favorite rides. It's nearly a solid hour on entertainment and fun, and not as much work as the Dragon.
