The areas in NE Alabama are good riding, and the Barber museum is there too for a nice rest and viewing while you're not riding. Watch out for ATL...good people but drivers are aggressive.

US 41 used to be the only road(before interstates)--that would be a trip!!!

US 129 would run you most all the way down.

I live very near 41, northwest of ATL, and unfortunately, once you get south of Cartersville, GA it becomes endless stoplights and traffic. I recommend that you avoid ATL completely. I would steer towards the Dragon and then down through North Georgia staying out of Atlanta. Be safe and have fun!

Thats why we use 441,nowhere near the traffic & congestion of 41.
441 is the way we go to FL every year. You got a little traffic around
Athens,GA,but it's nothing major.Enjoy the ride.

Ditto on 441. Thats the way I ride down to Florida as well. I now live in North Georiga, but my family is still in Sarasota/Tampa area and my wifes family is in Ft.Myers/Ormond Beach. I'm heading that way in May and was down for Bikeweek. Stay away from ATL.

Leadman, thanks for the tip. I rode to Key West, and used I-75 all the way down to South Florida, and next time, I'll hop over to 441. How is 441 as you get further down into Florida?
