Default Sturgis - Elkview Campground

Doing a little research for the Rally. Anyone have any firsthand knowledge of the Elkview Campground? I understand the location just off I-90 S.E. of Sturgis makes it easy to get to the Black Hills without having to ride through downtown Sturgis.

I have never stayed there but have stayed at the Buffalo Chip and Lamphere. These are 2 entirely different places! If your looking for a 24 hour party the choice would be Buffalo Chip, but if your looking to take in some of the party, or plan on riding, then getting a good nights rest Lamphere Campground is pretty tame around 10 pm. The Buffalo Chip has bikes buzzing by your tent 24-7. Just my .02 cents if your gonna camp!

Have stayed at Elkview three times. Great spot. Food, bar, pool. Good central location for touring or Sturgis.

Great park but few things for you to consider. Elkview is at exit 37. First exit for Sturgis is exit 32. You can go up to there and take Vanocker Canyon back toward the black hills. Not sure about how bad the traffic will be there at exit 32 though. At exit 34 you can go right and you will end up near Fort Sturgis. It is a gravel road though. Rapid city is about 20 miles south. If the city of Sturgis is your main place you will enjoy it.
