Default The Dragon and Cherohala Skyway

I rode the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway today with 2 friends. It was a gorgeous day...hardly a cloud and temperatures in the uppers 60s to low 70s. The fall colors were popping out all over on the Skyway... couldn't really tell on the Dragon...too busy to look around. Had pancakes and bacon at Deals Gap then hit the Cherohala Skyway out of Robbinsville, NC. Stopped at Hoopers bald to get a good look at the Cherokee Mountains in fall colors. It was the first trip to the area for my new neighbor. Needless to say he was blown away at the beauty of the mountains this time of year and the sweeping turns of the Skyway. Sorry, no pics.

Sounds like you had a great time. I was just up there 2 weeks ago. Also rode the dragon/skyway/BRP. Great riding areas.

I'm jealous too! We were up a few weeks ago and it nice and cool and a great ride.

Speaking of pancakes; one of our group said we HAD to eat at Peter's Pancake House in Cherokee. He was right, it was the best breakfast of the whole trip.

3 of us made the run there from Providence RI the week of 9/18. Tamed the dragon, rode the Cherohala, BRP and the Skyline.Spent a night at the Microtel in Robinsville that the DragonNester suggested and had dinner at lynn's up the top of the hill. Great food. Perfect weather. Great ride. 2400 miles. Oh visited the Wheel through Time too. Good stuff..

I was there last Fri/Sat and had a blast!

We stayed at the Microtel in Robbinsville.

I enjoyed every minute of our trip and the NC mountains are the best.

I did both on my second road trip--hard to describe the beauty of the area--just the most beautiful roads in the country.
