What's the going price for Sturgis campgrounds?
Another beating a dead horse question re: Sturgis campgrounds. My apologies. Went with friends last year and paid $23.00 - up from $18.00 in 2009 - a night at Elks View. Neg side - not much shade to choose from, a good walk/ride to the food, it sits right next to the highway. Pos side: clean hot showers, clean hot showers, clean hot showers. Suggestions? For hot showers, decent food, lower cost and within 5ish miles of Sturgis? I love camping so motel suggestions are out.

Back in the early 00's, I used to stay at Tilford Gulch. I think at the time it was $10 a night with no minimum stay, and it had quiet hours, free hot showers and food on site. It was on the I-90 south service road between Sturgis & RC behind the Elk Creek rest area.
It's gone up a tad, but not much: http://www.tilfordgulch.com/rates.htm

Take a look at No Name City, two miles South next to the Veterans Cemetery.
Don't know what the per day rate is or even if they offer one. Been staying there for years. Tiled showers, flush toilets, pool, hot tubs (2), 24/7 snack bar, bus service and there is even some shade...

I know there are more out there, just my .02 and results.
Hope that helps a bit. PM if you need some more info.

Glencoe
Sturgis has campgrounds for about anything you want. We always camp at Glencoe. It has lot's of shade, park like setting, and lots of space. It is located a couple miles east of Sturgis where all the entertainment takes place. It is across the street from the Full Throttle Saloon. If you like concerts the Buffalo Chip is a couple miles east and the place to camp.
Both Glencoe and Buffalo Chip are party campgrounds. If you want to experience a Sturgis party atmposhere these are you two best options. Both have early bird special pricing that is good for the whole rally. They both have website where you can register.
Good luck, have fun.

Campgrounds
I've already talked to the folks at the Buffalo Chip and they're saying that it's probably going to be around $35/day this year. However, that also includes admission to all of the shows and events at the Chip.
Right now you can book in advance for $205 from August 6th - 14th. I think it's $265 for August 1st -14. Could be wrong on that one though.
Hope this helps. See you in Sturgis.
