Default Best Riding Vacation of all time....

OK, I know that the best may be some sort of seat of the pants happy mistake/accident, however if someone was to plan the riding vacation of a lifetime what, or where that is , would you suggest. The Place, the places to stay, the roads to ride, etc.
All types welcome, two up or alone, fun riding roads, leasure scenery rides, enjoyabe accommodations, destinations.

I'm kicking this around with a couple buddies. So far, route 66 is in the lead for our spring ride. Also considered a ride to the HD museum and something that would get us to Mt Rushmore. But so far we're leaning toward an old school route 66 ride.

If you ever decide to ride the AlCan, be sure to stay at the Northern Rockies Lodge in Muncho Lake. Located at Mile 462.

Everywhere west of Denver and for as long and far as you can stand is what I would recommend to most. As for me, my ultimate dream trip will be to Alaska for at least a month. Gas prices need to drop.

I will be retiring soon - (80 days from today, but who's counting) and that's exactly my plan. I expect to spend most of the first year of retirement riding around the county. I have a map on my wall with a lot of pins stuck in it for places to see coast to coast.

And, with no schedule, no firm route, if we see an interesting road, we'll take it. If we hear of a good place to visit, we'll do it. We'll watch the weather and go where the sun is shining.

We plan on hitting every national park sooner or later too.
