golden spike harley in ogden, utah
alot of guys (me included) arent really crazy about most dealerships. they are usually more expensive than local shops, and everything that says harley, makes it more expensive anyhow. service, well, that is hit or miss. but, i have been on the road, NC to Oregon (i do this trip every year to visit my brothers grave in New Plymouth,ID) and twice i have had bike trouble in their area.
2006, i had a blow out, called them on the warranty, they called me right back, and said "our recovery truck is down, but, i have a truck, and a trailer, and i ll be there in 20 minutes, if that is alright."
of course it is alright! dude! that was awesome! and when we got to their shop, they pulled a bike off of the rack, put mine up there, and had my tire changed in less than an hour! now, Harley Davidson wouldnt cover the warranty, 1/32 of an inch too little tread! WTF!?!?! i had them install a new tire before the trip, and now it had 4,200 miles on a 10,000 mile tire. and, i went from nc to oregon, and was on the way back, so it was all highway miles. whatever, and they wonder why we go to places that arent dealerships..... so, they (golden spike) gave me dealer cost for the tire, employee rate for the labor, and no charge for the 18 mile tow! hell yeah! what a place!
then, just this year, i broke a drive belt in idaho (same trip, 4 years later) and i called triple A. (used bike, no warranty) and had them bring me to their place again. talked with them, they remembered me. they stayed open until almost 7:00 PM (they close at 5:00 PM) until i got there. the manager gave me a ride to a hotel, cause the repairs were gonna take all night (they were going to work on it all night, and get me back on the road bright and early)
UNFORTUNATELY i needed a buttload of parts, that were going to take a few days to get there. i am active duty military, and only had a short amount of leave left, so, i had to get a uhaul, and pack the bike, and head home. they helped me load the bike with their forklift, and got me strapped in using one of their bike pallets.
if you are ever in their area, stop in, and tell em about this story. they will remember me, and i am sure, that they will remember you too.... that is just the way that they do business up there.
be good, or be good at it,

EXTREMELY RARE!!! i agree. that is the only reason that i even brought it up. definitely worth a stop. when i plan my trips out there, i incorporate a stop in Ogden, Utah, even if i only buy a hat.....
