Default Cross Country Route

Looking to make a cross country trip from North Jersey to Los Angelos. I'll have about 8-9 days for the trip and would like to take some scenic routes. Does anyone have a suggested route? I'm planning this towards the end of next summer; maybe early fall.

Thanks!

Well where you can Route 66...But there is so many nice places in Colorado and Utah that are not Rt66 but are awesome.....Estes Park up by Denver..then Teluride /Silverton CO area and the Million Dollar highway, then in Utah I would suggest Highway 12 in Central Utah (leads you down to Grand Staircase, Bryce Canyon, Zions just to name a couple) Of course Monument valley/Arches NP in Utah (time it to come thru morning or evening for fantastic photo ops and views!)

Is that Jersey to LA...and back? Or just one way? If it's there and back, 8 days is gonna be one helluva ride.....

There are so many great roads in this country, it would be hard to choose. I try to stay off the Interstate and I try to avoid larger cities. I have "found" some great rides. Whatever you do, have fun!

Hit the super slab to the Denver area then enjoy the scenic routes.....just what "Mntsnow" suggested.....12/24 in Utah and Million Dollar Hiway are two of the best roads in North America in my opinion....i would say they are must do roads if you're heading west.....

I'll add another for taking the Interstates all the way to the Rocky Mountains, then give yourself more two-lane time.

If you have the time, take I-90 out to Montana, then see Yellowstone NP, Grand Teton NP, work your way down through WY, hit CO, hit Rocky Mountain NP, get on I-70 to Montrose, go south to Ouray, work your way to Durango, get into UT, take in Monument Valley and some of the NPs in southern UT, then either go south to Vegas or north to SLC to get the Interstate to the coast. It'd be the ride of a lifetime.

If you need specific info about MT, ID, & WY, just ask.

Middle America although is a great place and all is just plain boring. Blast to the Rockies then take your time and enjoy.
Estes Park / Teluride great riding!
