What do you pack?

If you take a Netbook or computer of some kind you should try to find an electronic version of your service manual - I found mine on eBay years ago. I scanned my Parts Manual and my Owner's Manual. I also have a list of Harley dealers and their addresses/phone numbers.
When I travel I have my service manual, parts manual, owners manual, and a list of Harley dealer locations on my computer hard disk. Create a travel tool box using old tools.

great realistic posts offered beforehand.
my two cents are to organize a list into catagories such as safety, bike, and comfort. be sure to put tools and rain gear in there somewhere. \
a right to carry permit, knowledge of state cancelled carry requirements, and self defense weapon that can be carried on you and not in your saddle bad are a must. the illuminated vest for heavy rain was a great idea that may not seem cool, until you need to ride in pitch black and can't see and do 20 or 30 mph less than traffic.

Riding a dyna I hafta pack light. Saddle bags and a T bag only carry so much. On one side I throw in my raingear so its easy to get to. The other bag I put anything else I might need to grab while on the road....cleaner for my shield, gloves, rags, straps, rope....etc. And in case of rain its easier getting into a saddle bag than screwing with a raincover on a T Bag...lol. Just try and keep each bag equal in weight.
I Figure 3 changes of clothes including what I'm wearing. So somewhere along the line I will need to find a laundermat. I picked up one of those bags full of small containers from Kmart. I use a bottle for some shampoo, etc...including pain pills, first aid stuff (waterproof tape is good to have) along with any other small items I might need along the way. I pack the T bag with the heaviest things at the bottom trying to keep my center of gravity as low as possible. This year I am going to try a tour box too, to hold my helmet, heavy leather coat and chaps as well as a face mask.

I carry a LOT of stuff but it really takes up a small amount of my saddlebag space. I carry some stuff because of OTHER riders unfourtnate breakdowns/accidents while traveling and some of my OWN but I thought that I should try to learn a lesson. OK, Here's how it breaks down for me.
Left (Rider side) saddlebag:
I bought a cheap First-Aid kit at the local Pharmacy (CVS) and it fits perfectly into the very back, bottom corner if my bag. I added most of the items but...
It contains:
Mini-mag flashlight
Swiss Army knife
Scissors
space blanket
asprin/ibuprophen
something to make you puke
something to keep you from puking
tums/rolaids
tweezers
eyeglass repair kit
band-aids: small, med, large, round, eye patch, finger and butterflies.
Gauze bandages: small, med and large
tape
rubber gloves
insect bite packets
insect repellant packets
Toilet paper (camping type)
wet wipes
ear plugs (for others)
sunscreen packets
Anticeptic packets
Q-Tips
Betadine
That's all I can thing of which reminds me it's time to inventory and re-stock.
Also in bag....
Kick stand puck
spare gloves
bandana
water
beer coolie/coozie thingy
Long Sleeve shirt
cargo net
couple small bungies
In the Right (Passenger) bag:
Full size hunting knife
Tool Kit (Cruze Tools - has most tools you'll need on the road)
Spare spark plugs (2)
syphon hose
rubber fuel line (1 foot - high preasure line)
zip ties
spare fuzes
kick stand spring (sounds funny but have you ever broken one?)
Golf tees (for plugging fuel lines)
Hose clamps
Duct tape wrapped around glo-light
Medium size Mag-Light
spare bulbs (brake and signal)
bulb grease and anit-seize (keep in old contact lens case)
tire repair kit
Rain Gear
electric vest (best $125.00 I ever spent!! - Cold SUCKS!!!)
Clothes/shaving kit/jackets etc..Go into a medium sized nylon bag that's been
treated with Camp-Dry or some type of water proofing spray. I bungie that to my luggage rack.
Some of this varies depending on where/how far I'm going and if the Wife is travelling.
I also carry a firearm either in my bag or on my person or BOTH...depending.
