Wife and I just got back from a fall leaves tour of NC..VA and Tenn..rode 2815 miles...burnt up 64.5 gals of high test..for avg mpg of 43.6....bike ran great...only alittle rain....and no traffic problems...great ride!.....

we left home about 9 am and rode to Point South in SC for our first stop...about 500 miles...got wet in Jacksonville FL...dry the rest of the day..

the second nite we were in Blacksburg VA....mostly dry day till we got close to VA...then alittle rain

the next morning we left the hotel in cold temps (45) and light rain...we were cold all day...rode to the start of the BRP in Waynesboro VA and took the parkway to Fancy Gap VA where we got off and went to see our friends and family in Winston-Salem NC....stayed there 5 days...

went back to the spot where we left the parkway and continued on south to Ashville NC where we spent the nite..

next morning we headed out and rode to the end of the Parkway...this was the most scenic day we had....the leaves were peaking in the 5000 to 6500 ft range and the weather was clear...at the end of the Parkway we followed 441 over the mountain to Gatlinburg Tenn...where we spent two nites...we rode the 2 loop roads around Gatlinburg and walked the town at nite..had some good eats at Bennetts BBQ in town...

the next morning we got on the road home....went by my dads place in Winston to spend the nite then on to Brunswick Ga for another nite ...then home the next day....about 2 wks on the road....over-all was a great trip...

It is a great time of the year up here..

 

This is Mrs. Bent who learned this trip how hard it is to take pictures from a moving vehicle. Notice the real gloomy, cloudy day? That's the day we froze our *** off. No amount of coffee was going to fix that.

This is the last of the Parkway, the Little Pigeon River in TN and where the smoky mountains get their name. The pictures don't do it justice or my ability to make pictures sucks.

no problem...i've read alot here about other members trips and gottin a tip or two....thought we would reciprocate.....i am actually from that area...my wife is a south florida girl......i had a brain fart about 15 yrs ago and left the area....been trying to get back since.....
