Default Big Bear to Sherman Oaks area....best road to take?

Coming down from Big Bear this Saturday after going up off the 18 from the 247, it looks like you can take the 38 all the way down, or the 18 to the 330 on in. Taking the 38 looks easier, is it good road or is the other option the way to go? Thanks.

Default mountain lakes

One day in May I rode through Big Bear on the way to Venice from Hemet. From 74 I rode north, through the San Jacinto mountains @ Idyllwild, on 243 (extra ordinary riding), hopping on 10 west for a few miles, then north through Cherry Valley and Yucaipa (79?). Then 38 through the San Bernardino mountains, Big Bear (around the north side of the lake), picking up 18 (Rim of the World Highway) through Lake Arrowhead, then 138 through Crestline, all the way to Wrightwood.

From there 2 west is a phenomenal ride, though poorly maintained road (watch for mini rock-slides) through the San Gabriel mountains, until you reach a roadblock at Mount Wilson, where I backtracked a few miles and discovered a well-hidden detour (leading north) which emerges @ Tujunga, instead of La Canada (where 2 used to emerge), about 300 miles of nearly all twisties, all told. Elevation from sea level to +10,000 feet! This is some of the best riding in all of So Cal.

From Angeles Crest Hwy (2) take a right on Upper Big Tujunga Cyn (9 mile rd). Take a left on Angeles Forest Hwy and follow it all the way down. It will turn into Big Tujunga. Hang a left on Mt. Gleason and take that to foothill Blvd and you are in Tujunga. Get on the 210W to the 5 to the 405 and youa re at your destination.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check those roads. We're coming in from Phoenix to spend the weekend - and, Dr. V-Twin, you're shop is about 10 min. from my youngest boy's place, and I'm hoping to stop by if you're open on Sat.

Thanks.
