Default Cross Country Route for 2011

We are planning another cross country trip from Pa. out to California, we did the southern route last year, now we are looking for a good Northern Route. Has anyone gone this route, and what roads did you take? Where did you go? Looking for some good ideas.

Mostly Route 50 until we got to Colorado then we hit the Million Dollar Highway, then we went through Natural Bridges, Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon. I can't remember all of the roads but it was awesome!

I'm in N. GA and want to do route 50 one day! I've read that it's a great ride.

google us routes

There are many old auto trails and original highways that can still be followed coast to coast.

US 2 ME north of the great lakes to WA

US 6 Grand Army of the Republic Hwy MA to LA, CA

US 20 Ma to OR goes through Yellow Stone national park

US 30 Lincoln Hwy NJ to OR

US 50, 60, 70, 80 all go coast to coast

http://www.us-highways.com/us2.htm

There's also some north south, border to border roads besides the PCH on the Pacific and US 1 Boston Post Road on the Atlantic there is US 81 ND to TX, US 11 NY to LA

Hmmm, Route 50, I've never heard of it...just Googled it and read a little about it. Sounds very interesting, I just learned something here. Love this place.

We took U.S. 50 East from Southern Indiana to Washington D.C. last year. Very nice ride. Some parts were jaw-dropping beautiful.

Like I've told others, check out this web site:
http://www.roadtripusa.com/index.html

Just click on the route number that you might be interested in and then to the left will be a list of states and areas within the states that show points of interest.

Enjoy the ride.
