Default Pacific Coast Highway Help

I have an opportunity for a three day ride from San Francisco and wanted to ride the PCH. Trouble is I don't know if I should head north of San Francisco or south. I was hoping that those of you who have ridden the PCH could give me your thoughts on which way to go. Many thanks for your feedback.

My recollection is that you will find better views and a more interesting road going north. But either way....

Cheers,
Gordon

+1 - I drove from LA to San Diego a few years are on PCH and it's spectacular. Someday, I plan on renting from SF and riding down to San Diego.

Ive done from Carmel all the way down to LA a few times. It is a beautiful ride. The best part is from Morro Bay to Carmel through Big Sur and such. Be prepared for plenty of summer tourists in campers. If you want to ride at a decent clip leave EARLY in the morning.

I'd vote for north through the redwoods.

My plan next year is to do it from the Canadian border to the Mexican border and leave nothing out.

I live 20 miles East of Morro Bay. North is my recomendation, its still real nice all the way to Santa Barbara but after that the mentality sucks.Id stay clear of L.A.
