Just got back from a four trip up to the Luray area of Virginia, rode through the mountains and down Skyline Dr. It was hot but the mountain areas were cool enough. Beautiful scenery and great riding.

 

We've been there twice but failed to ride the entire 105 miles. It is a great national park.

 

I was there earlier this month. I have to agree, it is a great place to be. I want to go back when I can spend at least a week on the skyline drive alone. There are enough trails to walk to spend a whole summer there.

We have been meaning to tackle that trip also. Anybody have on any info on decent campgrounds to set up a base camp from in the area? Any feedback greatly appreciated, we have never been in that area yet, but I keep hearing how scenic it is.....

 

There are several campgrounds in the park. As you enter the skyline drive, there will be a sign that states how far it is to each campground and if they have vacancies or not.

There are also a couple of lodges, restraunts and several cabins for rent along the way.
