Just another "me too" on that road. It's fantastic.

Sun Valley is also great, but if I had to choose between the two -- Highway 12/Lolo Pass wins.

Planning on taking HWY 93 from Arco to Lolo and then HWY 12 over to Moscow. I'll be entering Idaho at Victor, coming from Grand Teton NP.

Thanks for all the replies, we are in Portland right now and should be in Boise this evening. Have to change oil in the bikes tomorrow and than head out on our trip. Will defenitly do Lolo Pass. Going up to Glacier Park also.

the road north from Logan Utah ( I think it's 89) through Bear lake at the Idaho border is awesome..... we did that up through Lava Hot Springs ( awesome after a long cold ride)... then up through the tetons and yellowstone..... from yellowstone all the way out through Cody was awesome too, Cody through Greybull can bite me though. Best trip I've ever taken. Enjoy it man.

If you do the Lolo Pass continue to Lewiston and go up and then down the Old Spiral Highway. That is an awesome ride. Here is a link to a byway that is nice http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/2037/travel.html. I am headed to Idaho on the 29th going to Bear Lake in the south east corner.

I just did the Lolo Pass last week. Was amazing! One of the greatest rides I have ever been on. Make sure to stop at some point and jump into the river. It feels great in this heat riding the next 20 miles just soaking wet.

You have a choice to either go north on the west side of the Sawtooth or the eastside. Going west, you go up US 95 until Grangeville, where you cut over to US 12 and Lolo Pass. If you go the eastside, you have a longer ride on ID75 and US93. US 93 and US 12 come together on the eastside of Lolo, just below Missoula (at Lolo MT). From there, I took MT83 (Seely Lake) to West Glacier. THis was a very pretty road and I hear it is better than Flathead Valley.

I bet you start off in near 100 degree temps, but at Logan Pass, I hit 45 degrees and a 35 MPH wind. It never rained on me, but T-storms were all around. Be prepared.

hwy 12 from kooskia to missoula is a one of kind ride - nothing else like it! just heard from some friends that there's plans to change it into an industrial shipping route for extra wide traffic - i just signed a petition against it - here's a link if anyone else is interested http://www.petitiononline.com/k12sfw/petition.html
