we too stayed at the Hampton in Front Royal last year when we did the Skyline and the BRP. Nice place and they gave us a bag lunch for the road.

Well, got back today after doing a little over 1000 miles down to the Skyline Drive
....we'll have to find the other 900 miles of it when we go back out there this spring. We could only find a little over 100 last time we were out there.

I agree, beautiful views. We live about 25 miles from the entrance to Skyline Drive. We rode from Front Royal to Rt 33 at Harrisonburg back in July. It was about 20 degrees cooler up there. The Blue Ridge Parkway is great also. And its FREE.

Howdy,

In July of 2005 at 8:00 AM, I left my house just below Pittsburgh, PA and rode the Turnpike to Breezewood then Winchester, VA then Front Royal. Did the entire Skyline Drive, then hit the Blue Ridge. Camped overnite at Natural Bridge, the nrode all the next day to Cherokee, NC. Went east to Robbinsville, NC for a few days of the Dragon.

It was a trip through Heaven!!

&nbsp\\; Timmer - Glad you had a great ride on Skyline Drive but IMHO it's just a warmup for the Blue Ridge Parkway. To me &amp\\; my wife it's one of the best roads we've ever riden! It took us three days to cover the 469 miles of the BRP but we took it easy and stayed at Govt. campgrounds along the way and had a blast covering aprox. 1700 miles in 8 days.
