Heading down in August, will be 2nd time, I rode the Dragon in 2005. This will be my wife's first time. We plan on spending a few days around the Dragon and then heading south to visit my cousin.

Have to agree traffic can be bad at times in the busy season such as June,July and during major events like the spring and fall rod runs. But most of the time traffic in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg aint bad at all. I will be back up in Sept. for two weeks of riding and of course working on our place, but that is the price I have to pay. Cant wait till I can hang my hat up there for good!

Rolling hills here with access to Hocking Hills. Not the Smokeys, but not flat either.

yes but by getting to the dragon via foothills parkway you are getting on the dragon after the rockslide.

Just returned from our trip. Not sure if you can find any riding better than in this area. We rode the Dragon, Maggie Valley, the Skyway, BRP along with all the road's in the area. Absolutely breathtaking views and great riding. We were told that the Dragon's rock slide blockage should be opening up the 1st week of July. And thank you to everyone for the information provided on the responses to this thread.

We did find another rode that in my opinion was better than the Dragon. Same rolling switchbacks without any traffic. We rode out of Gatlenberg on 321 towards Cosby for about 5 miles that came to a tee in the rode and took a right. This rode will end after about 12 miles and turn into gravel at the state line.
