North Conway NH to Jackson OH
We are looking for the best bike route from NH to OH. We plan on taking 20 across NY but are not sure which way we should go from NH to NY as there is no direct route. "Can't get there from here..."
Our biggest concern however is finding a rural route from Erie to Jackson. Any ideas?

Consider picking up US 20 west from Erie, PA into Ohio to Painesville. At Painesville head south on state route 44 until it intersects with US 62 near Canton. Take US 62 south/west to Wilmont then south/east on 250 to state route 93 south to Jackson.
I'll confess that I have not ridden this as a continuous route but have ridden or driven these routes in the past. Most of the time will be 2 lane rural highway (especially rt 93) with some 4 lane especially near the cities and more populated areas. Be cautious on rt 93 as portions of it are twisty and may have a fair amount of truck traffic the farther south you travel.

You may want to consider this. Take RT 20 then south through the Finger Lake Region of NY (though Ithica or maybe Watkins Glenn) to get to US 6 in PA. Head west on 6 until you reach US 219, take this south all the way to US 50 then west across 50 to US into Jackson. This route will let you enjoy the mountains of PA and WV as opposed to the flatness of RT 20 and NE Ohio.
Good luck and enjoy your ride.

Another option would be to take 19 south out of Erie into Zelienople PA. Take 68 over to East Liverpool OH. You can then follow rt 7 along the Ohio River until you get outside Pomeroy OH. Take 124 over to Jackson.
This keeps you off the slab and out of the big cities.
There are tons of ways to get across southern Ohio and there are some good roads down there. Depends on what you are trying to ride across.

Another route would be 19 to 7 then break off 7 outside of Steubenville and shoot 22 across to route 83 south until you hit 78 in Bristol Twp. Follow 78 until it turns into 278. That will take you through Wayne National forest. You'll have to jump on 50 west for a bit to get over to 93 south then take 93 into Jackson.
This is the route I would probably take if it were me because it is pretty direct but goes through the state parks.
