Default Oklahoma to California in June 2010

Going to California from Oklahoma in June for 2 weeks, stopping at the Hoover dam, Vegas, to Fresno, then Yosemite National park, then we're debating on which way to go from there, we want to ride the coast up from San Francisco area and also see lake Tahoe, we have to go through Redding to see family and then head across Nevada and Utah on "the loneliest road" into Colorado stopping at Ouray and Pagossa Springs then back home.

Any ideas on which way to go from Yosemite and what we need to see along the way?

Thanks
TerryG

You can leave Vegas, go through Death Valley, it'll be hot, over to 395 and up to Tioga Pass and into Yosemite from the east. Through Yosemite and down to Fresno on the 41. Stay on the 41 over to Atascadero (real nice memorable ride) and to the 1 up through San Simeon, Hearst Castle, Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey (take a ride around Pacific Grove-a must see) to Frisco. You can make Tahoe in one day from there and then take the 89 up to Burney and down to Redding. Check out the falls in Burney. They're on the 89 just north of town in a state park. Dress for warm weather for the majority of the ride.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

If you decide to take Other Sheep's route suggestion and go into Yosemite from the 395, check the status of HWY 120 Tioga Pass. It is currently closed and could still be closed in June depending on the amount of snowfall.

I don't know how much time you have in California (2 weeks for the whole trip, right?) but if it were me, I would do something like this. I've never been to Redwoods NP but hear it's pretty awesome. Have fun!
