First - have fun.

I suggest a 3rd day to make it more enjoyable - in my rides, every corner was another fantastic view to see and gawk at. Plus you have so many places to visit that you would not want to miss.

Grandfather Mountain http://www.grandfather.com/,
Blowing rock http://www.theblowingrock.com/
Natural Bridge http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/
Boone, NC http://visitboonenc.com/
Linville Falls http://www.ncwaterfalls.com/lin1.htm
Museum of NC Minerals http://www.mitchell-county.com/festival/museum.html
Mount Mitchell http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/momi/main.php
Lin Cove Viaduct http://www.romanticasheville.com/linn_cove_viaduct.htm
Highpoint on parkway 6047 ft http://www.bamacyclist.com/blue_ridge_parkway_99.htm

AND ALLOT MORE - the above list is just what came quickly to my memory. Darn, makes me want to go riding NOW!

Again, have fun.

RIDE ON -

Don't set a limit to a ride. Just enjoy the BR and surounding area's and when your time is up turn around and head home. I stopped setting milage what i have to do or see to rides years ago. Just enjoy what you can and comeback to enjoy the rest another time.

Since Harley Guy has added all the good stuff, I'll finally add my favorites. These are secret, so don't tell anyone. Just a few miles off the Parkway, http://www.state.tn.us/environment/parks/RoanMtn/
Roan Mtn. is one of the most beautiful places on earth, bar none, but if high places bother you, don't go.
And you think you can really ride with the best on a mountain road? Read this,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_Highway_181
then search it out on You Tube. You wanna go fast? Try your luck on 181. It is my favorite, but I'm 55 now, and I don't go as fast as I once did. Lots of ricers don't make it all the way up, my son brought his back in three pieces. Lucky boy, he can still walk.

i was there in mid-april. i don't think you will want to rush the trip. the roads to and from the parkway are lots of fun. stop in fancy gap, va. and get a hamburger. nice people there. lots of tunnels, wished i hadn't had a dark face shield. keep your spacing, there will be lots of gawking.

Just like Madmax I am blessed to live close to the Parkway, And last week had some freinds come down from Alexandria, VA. They tried to ride the Parkway down just wasn't making enough time so got off. But were able to make it on the way back. And as far as I know and its been reported on local news the only weather related closings(due to down trees) is between Grandfather Mtn & Linville Falls,(they are working on this now). But its a nice detour thru Linville onto hwy 221s thru Crossnore, and 221 goes back under the Parkway just a few miles down the road.

GymRat523, we do the BRP almost every year. 2 days is too hard because you have to really pay attention-it wears you down. Deer are everywhere, if you like venison, this is the place to kill one!!!!!! Even had a turkeys' wing dust the batwing as he flew across the road. Enjoy, but be watchful especially after 4 p.m.

Yes, the Blue Ridge is possible in two days. Don't waste your time doing Skyline and just do the Blue Ridge!! After touring the Blue Ridge, Skyline just doesn't add up. I suggest you head out early each day to beat the traffic. Weather will play a big part in your travel time. Blue Ridge can get socked in with fog which makes the rolling very tough at times. This is a GREAT scenic ride and a MUST DO RIDE!!!!

I did it with my wife a couple of years ago and took 3.5 days including the skyline... but we stopped and looked at a bunch of stuff. We are going again on the 21st of this month and I'm expecting to just spend 2 days max on the blue ridge. The last time my wife took 1300 pics most of them from the back of the bike while driving... sometimes you get so damn many pics that they all start looking the same. Now a days I just take a few pics and I always try to include the bike in those pics....

Anyway, you'll enjoy the ride and you can easily find hotels at any of the towns that are nearby.

Have a safe trip, Ralph
