Ride Report: South Korea Perimeter Ride

Chogae Guui, Shellfish roasted over hot stones. Also seafood soup. Korean food always has kimchi and other side dishes served with it.

We had to go through military checkpoints up north, and they radioed ahead to let the other checkpoints know we were coming through. As we went past each base a bunch of ROK troops were gathered to check us out and wave as we passed.
Korean men like to come by and check out the bikes at gas stops and rest stops. First question is always "how much does it cost?", and second question is usually "how many cc's?".

What a trip! Thanks for posting the wonderful pictures...first class photography.
I spent time in Korea in 1966 and really hadn't seen much of the coast...OK zero... since we were 5K from DMZ. I remember leaving Seoul on one of the few paved 2 lanes...that lasted about 5 miles and then dirt until 13 months later returning to Seoul on that same 2 lane. Never saw a bike bigger than a step through. Nothing much had changed since the war end in 1966 and then poof!!! Reading/looking at your post brought present day Korea into focus. John
