Just got back from a "corporate event" in Hawaii. Cruised Maui (the smaller of the two sleeping volcanos) about a 6 hour ride with stops. Rented a bike from Maui Harley, no issues or problems with the rental. Stunning scenery, bike ran well, wife happy.

This was my first rental and I believe I'll do it again...If you have a chance to get over there, I recommend a multi day rental verses a single day. A one day rental was 150 bucks and while they made you wear a helemt until you got off the lot there are no helemt laws in Hawaii . Speed limits are 55 mph max (mostly 45 or less). Where we went we had several hundred twists and turns as we rode the coastline, rarely got over 30. We took video but the file size is 16 gig.

The larger volcano run has over 600 twists and turns on it's coast line ride and takes about 12 hours. You also have the option of driving up to the top of the volcano, 10,000 ft plus elevation.

Maui's nice been there twice. The road to Hana and the seven pools has some twists ( actually about a thousand ) We drove up the volcano but the clouds were low so we couldn't see a lot ,aparently on a clear day you can see the Big Island ( Hawaii ). Is the dealer on Maui still a Kawasaki dealer too ? The Big Island has better roads and the dealers in Kona is good. Wife was telling me on Friday we are going back, it's 17 hours flying time for us

 

Sounds like a great ride. Do they give you a break with multi-day rental or would 3 days be $450?
