Must see towns on BRP?
Finalizing trip on the BRP Staying 1 night in Front Royal for a fresh start on Skyline. Day two driving the entire length of skyline and 84 miles into BRP staying at Bedford Va. Day 3 onto blowing rocking via BRP. and day 4 into the smokies for 2 days and then 3 days home. Averages about 200 miles a day so should leave time to see stuff and not be rushed. What towns are must see to stop and kick around on a HISTORICAL main st?

+1 on the Day Memorial in Bedford. Not far from there is the Peaks of Otter Inn on the BRP.
If you have the time the Biltmore House in Asheville is a must see. If you need a good place to stay on the BRP check out the Pisgah Inn; great place and good food.

Stop off on highway 18 in NC at laurel springs nc a couple of motorcycle friendly joints there. There is also a winery called Thistle Meadow Winery. Restaurants are Freebornes and Stations Inn. Stations Inn is right off the BRP and is a favorite stop for motorcycles. It is at milepost 248. To go into Laurel Springs just ride past Stations Inn and you will ride right into it..lol
The Blowing Rock Boone area is great. Many things to see and places to eat. Mast General Store in Valle Crucis is a cool spot to take a break. Also be sure to stop at Mount Mitchell and check out the view from the tower you can see for miles as long as the clouds are high...lol
Enjoy your ride I always do as I live only 30 minutes from the BRP and we ride it often.

BruceSGo8, check this out, http://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm
This is the High Country, and the ice storm really broke a lot of trees down. It is also the 75th Anniversary of the Parkway, so it will get opened. Supposed to be 2 contractors working right now, so it depends on when you are coming, I heard by sometime in May it would be open. The part that is closed doesn't have a lot of views anyways, and the detour isn't that bad, mostly rural. You will go by this, http://www.grandfather.com/ ,so check it out.

Oh, dude....go the other way towards Marion!!!
Just for a few miles anyway. Great road!
The first thing you will see is a billboard warning people about this road! RV's and trailers are warned to stay off this road! You will love it on a bike!!!
I can understand why you (OP) ask about tourist type stops, but you never asked about great roads in the mountains??? Dude, there are some great roads up there that are better than the Dragon or Hellbender!
