Exclamation Jersey to Cali 3 days

Anyone know any stretches of hwy of I-40 and I-70 that highway patrol pulls over for loud exhaust? I'm riding from Jersey to Cali in a few weeks. I have a 1984 FLHTC Evo with a 2 into 1 pipe. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

From the title of OP I assume you are planning to ride from Jersey to California in 3 days...if so then it is possible that I will be surprised if ANY sound comes out of your exhaust. Aside from that I have no reason to think I40/70 will be a noise problem, less than within town limits with noise problems. If the pipes are that loud you won't hear the siren anyways as you will be deaf by the time you get to Arkansas. John

I would'nt worry much about state cop's,they usually don't care.Worry more about the local's when you stop for gas or anything else. Some of those cop's seem to make up law's on the fly and, remember almost every town, county, city is broke.Traveler's make good target's so watch your speed and,go easy when you get off the slab.

That's some pretty serious saddle time you're talkin' there. May be a bigger bite than you expected.

Good luck!

They are not obnoxiously loud, but will definitely get peoples attention. Ill do the best I can to not get off the hwy for gas, Ill try and use the rest stops that have gas stations on the hwy. Thanks!

Vinny, getting stopped for noise isn't your biggest problem. If you try to drive from Jersey to California in 3 days you'll most likely get lots of speeding tickets! That's a 3,000 mile trip. If you drove for 12-hours/day, you'd have to average more than 80 MPH! You'll need more time. What's the rush?

I went round trip from CA to VA and back on I40. I did 6,000 miles in nine days. I took five days to go out to VA and I took four days to come back home to CA. It was only the rain and the cold that kept me from doing more time in the saddle. My 1999 XL883 has a 2 into 1 exhaust pipe and it seems quite loud to me and to my neighbors too but I passed my fair share of LEOs on the open highway and never even got a second glance. I did do a stretch of highway from AR to TN on the I40 where I went about 100 MPH or so for about 100 miles or so and I about coasted into a gas station on fumes as my gas tank only holds 3.3 gallons of gas and it was about bone dry. It’s a ride, not a race! Good luck on your trip and ride safe out there.
