If you're looking for some scenic rides and a decent amount of vendors, you might like Thunder in the Valley. You'll see a lot of twisty roads around the Johnstown area but they won't compare to the Dragon. Several to consider would be Rt. 711, Rt. 53 and Rt. 36 (north of Altoona). The campgrounds include Greenhouse Park and the ABATE campground in Ebensburg which is 25 miles north. The bands are local, not what you'll see in a place like Sturgis, SD.

Americade
My wife and I have done several rides, and this year we are going to run up to Americade. We will still do several other runs including Bikes Blues and BBQ. Here are some things to consider, Lodging, Places to eat, rural roads to ride, and a reputation for a trouble free event. We are also going to make a run up thru NH. into Canada and across to Niagra Falls. Do yourself a favor and look up Americade. Don and Pam

This is a kick *** little rally about 9000 strong, Snow shoe - freedom fest really sucks and the room rates are so high the roads are good until you hit gravel the grades are 9% nice riding, Johnstown is an all bike rally small venue family type rally dead Sunday you can fine some mighty nice riding in the Hills they have Gravity hill your bike will coast uphill and some covered bridges...Ohio bike week sucks unless u just like to drink high priced drinks. check out abate of Indianas stuff one in Bean Blossom and cave in rock I believe it's Hog rock..

Wrong
Are you serious ? I wouldn't recommend this place to someone that lives twenty miles away. The "campground" is an overpriced rockpile on the side of a mountain and the vendor areas are set up in parking lots of two small gas stations. There are some great roads in the area (one would be Rt. 26) but they're not worth riding from Chicago for.

If it's partying you want, you'll work real hard to beat Easy Riders at Chillicothe, Oh. The town is in South Central Oh. so there are few hill but there are some nice winding roads meandering through the countryside. After, (or before), all that partying, you can go due East on rt 50 to Charleston, WV and into the Monongahela national forest. Some real nice hills and twisties in there. Make it a 10 day trip, (4 at Chilli), and enjoy it all. You'll talk about the whole thing for years to come.
